Bulgaria's new alpine skiing talent Albert Popov ("Moten"), won the first FIS calendar starts in Bulgaria, triumphing with a golden double at the first race for the season.
The 21-year-old from Sofia had no competition on track No. 8 under Todorka Peak, where he recorded the best time in both slaloms and raised the Ulen Cup. The perfectly organized races were participated by 58 athletes from 9 countries (Italy, Montenegro, Greece, Romania, Cyprus, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey and Bulgaria). The prizes were handed out by the President of Bulgaria Ski Federation Tseko Minev and his deputy Georgi Bobev.
Albert Popov was the fastest with 1:22,80 minutes in the first slalom, leaving behind with 0.08 sec his colleague from the National team Kamen Zlatkov and Greek Ioannis Antonio with 2.46 seconds behind. In the second start he again finished first with 1:23.85 min. Two of Ulen's racers stepped on the podium as well - Ioan Todorov (1: 25.59) and Kalin Zlatkov (1: 25.76).
Two national team members won the ladies races - 17-year-old Eva Vukadinova from Borovets and 18-year-old Gergana Zadneprovska from Ulen.
