The entire marketing team from Verbier arrived in Bansko to look for opportunities for cooperation between the two ski resorts.
In a meeting with the mayor Mr. Georgi Ikonomov, the experts stated that two days in the town were enough for them to confirm their image of Bansko as a modern place. The good food, nice restaurants and excellent infrastructure impressed them most.
"Together we will look for new opportunities to expand the winter tourism market. But as our Swiss counterparts, we are looking more options for the summer season, so we can increase the employment in the warm part of the year. During the last 7 - 8 years we have successfully implemented many summer events and festivals", Ikonomov said after the meeting.
Bansko is expected to return the visit by experts, which will initiate a closer cooperation between the two municipalities.
Located 160 km east of Geneva, Verbier is one of the most developed areas in the Swiss Alps and a preferred destination for the richest and most famous people in the world. It has the image of a royal resort. With 410 km of slopes and alomost 100 lifts it is very attractive for all kinds of adventurers. The altitude (1500 - 3300 m) ensures a very long skiing season. From Mont Fort (3328) the view reaches Matterhorn (4478) and the highest point of Western Europe - Mont Blanc (4810).
Verbier is one of the busiest Swiss resorts - the "Trivago" search engine offers 818 hotels with prices from under EUR 100 to over EUR 2000 per night. The town is famous for its nightlife and has a music festival in the summer - same like Bansko.
