Hundreds of fans of the legendary 8 and one of the heroes of the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA Hristo Stoichkov met their idol at Banderishka Polyana in Bansko Ski Area. The holder of the Ballon d’Or for 1994, who with his six goals ranked Bulgaria in 4th place in the world in football, presented his biography "Hristo Stoichkov. HiStory!” and signed hundreds of autographs for young and old. In just two day at the same place the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Bansko 2024 will take place. Hristo Stoichkov, who today celebrates his 58th birthday in Bansko, is one of the stars who are already under Mount Todorka in the Pirin Mountains on the occasion of the biggest sports event for the year in Bulgaria. During the weekend we expect the arrivals of "Mr. GS" Ted Ligety, the Slovenian Olympic champion Tina Maze, Marc Girardelli and Alberto Tomba, after whom the track is named, on which the best skiers on the planet will compete on February 10th and 11th, 2024.
The Chairman of the Board of BFSki Mr. Tseko Minev presented Stoichkov with brand new Atomic skis for his birthday. He returned the gesture by a replica of the Ballon d’Or.
The mayor of Bansko Mr. Stojcho Banenski, presented Stoichkov with a handmade wooden calendar.
Among the fans who took an autograph from the legendary number 8 of Bulgarian football was Albert Popov, who will compete in the slalom for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Bansko 2024 in front of his home crowd on Sunday.
