For the third consecutive season, a contestant from Asia raised the Foreign Minister's Cup at Pirin Golf & Country Club and for the third time during the last 6 years the trophy goes to a South Korean. The second person in the embassy of the 11th economic power in the world Sang Hum Nam won the 9th edition of the tournament by showing world class in the Stableford scoring system among 31 participants from 3 continents on the Ian Woosnam lawn. In 2016 the cup was raised by the current South Korean Ambassador in Bulgaria Shin Bunam, in 2013 No. 1 was his predecessor Chen Biho. In last summer the diplomatic tournament was taken by Plam Quang Hung from the embassy of Vietnam. Slovakia is ranked second in the number of trophies thanks to the double win of ambassador Karol Mistrik in 2011 and 2012.
Traditionally, participants were divided into two groups - one for corporate friends and partners, who were 20 in total and competed in 2 divisions, and in the other group 11 diplomats competed. Philip Kitov jr. and Borislav Velkov took the prize in the first and in the second group the winner is Svetoslav Stankov from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who won the longest strike award as well, but according to the regulation the winner of the cup may be only a foreign career diplomat - so the trophy went to Sang Hum Nam, whose father was second behind MP Mladen Shishkov.
The special prize for the closest pin goes to Stanislav Švorčik from Slovakia who positioned the ball at the 15th hole only 98 centimeters from the flag. Mihaela Toncheva from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was appointed as best lady of the tournament.
