The official closing of the racing season in Bulgaria proved one more time, that Bansko imposes the standards in winter sports. Ulen's racers won 5 very prestigious awards, which are traditionally given at a ceremony in Alfa Hall at the Paradise Center in Sofia. Besides this Bansko got 2 special awards.
The hosts of the gala dinner were the Vice President of the Bulgaria Ski Federation Georgi Bobev and Bulgaria’s first lady in snowboarding Alexandra Zhekova, who looked stunning in her charming turquoise outfit. She was born at the foot of the Vitosha Mountain but grew up in Pirin. This year for the second consecutive season she triumphed in the small World Cup final in Bansko. She also became 6th in her 4th consecutive Olympic Games and received honorary award for sports longevity by the President of Bulgaria Ski Federation Tseko Minev. Sani was also honored by the IOC for her qualifying in PyeongChang. The same honor received Ulen’s top skier Maria Kirkova as well - besides taking this season 7 first places out of 10 in the country, the 32-year-old from Sofia has participated 4 times Olympic Games. That's why Mr. Tseko Minev honored her with a unique career plaque (pictured).
3 promising young talents of Ulen raised the "Hope" Cup - the son of the director of the ski school Georgi Glavchev - Ivan Glavchev and Boyana Radeva, granddaughter of the legendary Bulgarian wrestler and two-time Olympic champion Boyan Radev. The other awarded young hope is Julia Zlatkova. Coach Ivo Dimov was also honored for his work with children under 12 years of age.
The hosts of Ulen and the 101st Alpine regiment of the Bulgarian Army were awarded for the perfect organization of the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Bansko.
Bansko Tomorrow newspaper and Bansko Magazine were awarded for the most objective media coverage.
