The athlete Ivan Vezyuv won a gold medal in 100 m cross-country skiing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 in Turin. Asya Todorova and Darina Bogdanova got silver in the same discipline.
“I am very proud of what I have achieved. I know that I represent Bulgaria, but also Bansko and all athletes like me. It was difficult, tiring, but we succeeded. This is my second time participating in the Special Olympics World Games and I knew that there would be many difficulties,” shared Ivan Vezyuv excited.
“I did not believe that I would win a medal. I dedicate it to my coach and the people from the social service in Bansko,” said Asya Todorova.
Asya Todorova (34) and Ivan Vezyuv (24) are from Bansko and were training at Pirin Biathlon Club. Their coach is Elena Durchova, the club's president. The club also provided the ski equipment with which Asya and Ivan participated in the World Winter Games in Turin.
Ivan and Asya's preparation and participation in the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin was supported by the Mayor of Bansko Municipality Stoycho Banenski and his team, as well as by Ulen AD.
