Snowboarder Tervel Zamfirov awarded with the "Silver Falcon"

The 2025 World Student Champion in the Parallel Giant Slalom Tervel Zamfirov was awarded today by Press Club "Bulgaria" with the "Silver Falcon" - а prize for a breakthrough in world sports. In addition to хис title in Bardonecchia, Tervel took fourth place on January 18тх, 2025 in the first of two starts for the Alpine Snowboarding World Cup in Bansko. Along with Zamfirov, the ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Bulgarian Ski Federation Mr. Georgi Bobev.

"I will definitely remember for the rest of my life the emotions of the starts for the World Cup in Bansko. For me, this is one of the most emotional competitions I have ever had. It can only compare them to the Junior World Championship, which was held in Bansko in 2023, where I won the gold medal. For me, this is my first real result among men. I am very happy that this happened in Bansko. I come from a family with a good example, with great support from the Federation, with great support from Ulen ski club and Bansko. These events of recent years have had a positive impact on me and the entire team,” Zamfirov commented. According to him, his unique riding style is the result of many years of observation of the best in this sport such as Andreas Prommegger, Benjamin Karl and Radoslav Yankov.

“We are very happy that there is continuity in alpine snowboarding in our country. We have a young generation of athletes led by Tervel, because his results are the most stable at the moment. This shows that Bulgarian alpine snowboarding is developing and that Radoslav Yankov is not a lone rider. We have a future that makes us very happy. These young competitors have been putting in a lot of effort over the past few years, in terms of program and training, and are starting to realize their goals. The road ahead of our young talents is long, as in this sport we observe serious sports longevity. So the goals are big. The ambitions and plans are realistic. We in no way want to burden them with too high expectations in their first years in the Men's World Cup. They need to gain experience and self-confidence, and gradually the results will come. With the successes he has gained in the last 2 years, Tervel already has a serious calling card, as for a young athlete, and this is also a serious basis for subsequent results,” said Georgi Bobev.

By the end of the season, Tervel still has two more participations in the World Cups, and in the world championships for youth and men, as well as starts for the European Cup.

“I don't like to talk about goals. What I want is to progress and be better every day than the previous one. In general, in sports and life, a person has a long path in which he must strive to progress and make progress every day,” concluded Zamfirov.
