On December 18th, 2021 in Bansko the winter season was officially launched. This year it was again a symbolical act, due to the pandemic situation, but the kids from ski club Ulen showed in front of the audience on Banderishka Polyana in a demonstration descent enviable skills. Many fans of winter sports enjoyed the wonderful conditions, and the price of a daily ticket was only 20 leva.
On December 18th, 2021, Bulgaria's Minister of Tourism Hristo Prodanov (pictured right) personally inspected the Bansko ski area, accompanied by MP Georgi Svilenski.
In Pirin mountain the snow cover is between 80 and 120 cm at the very beginning of the winter. Due to this all slopes under Todorka were opened today, except Chalin Valog and the Ski Road, the latter most probably will be ready in a few days for skiing. It seems that a very nice winter season awaits us, especially if the snowfall continues. If temperatures continue to be negative, the artificial snow cannons will be activated. The MRS warns that there is still no stable snow base in the mountain and large avalanches are possible, even in the forests. Therefore, leaving the ski area is not recommended.
Ulen's marketing director Ivan Obreykov said that all precautionary measures were observed in connection with the pandemic situation, but the lifts did not require a green certificate (green pass). "People follow the instructions of our staff, the cabins of the gondola lift are disinfected regularly, and doing sports in fresh air and sun in the mountains brings only positive emotions. We expect a smooth running of the ski season, as it was last year," added Obreykov.
